This photo of the historic Cameo Theatre on Washington Street in South Miami Beach is made from an original black and white photograph that was hand-colored by nationally recognized artist and photographer Jan Kaulins.
The Miami Beach Cameo Theatre was built in 1936, during the peak of The Art Deco period in South Miami Beach. The Cameo Theatre was designed by noted architect Robert E. Collins. When it first opened it seated 1061 people. In this Art-Deco South Beach Miami picture photo of The Cameo Thatre you can see that at the time this photograph was taken the historic theatre was used mostly as a dance club. More recently it went through another Miami South Beach incarnation where it was transformed into The Crobar Nightclub.
