Big Island Hawaii photo - St. Augustine's Church

BIG ISLAND HAWAII ST. AUGUSTINES CHURCH -photo picture art photograph - Big Island Hawaii photograph art photo gallery - Hawaiian St. Augustine's Episcopal Church picture photograph art. This photo, taken near the small Artist town of Hawi, on the very Northern tip of The Big Island of Hawaii, is of the historic St. Augustine's Episcopal Church. This quaint old Hawaiian wood church was built on Feb. 10, 1884 and sits on a small hill towered over by very tall Coconut Palms. As has been the custom for many years the cemetry is on the grounds of the church, surrounded by beautiful red flowers. Missionaries came to Hawaii in 1819 and began establishing the Christian religion on all of the Islands. Many of the old beautiful rural churches still survive and are actually used in services today.
