BIG ISLAND HAWAII KONA THEATRE - picture photo photograph - Big Island Hawaii photo picture of old Kona Theatre - While heading south on Route 11 going through North Kona I came across this old building, that at one time had been The Kona Theatre. There are other similar abandoned old theatres around The Big Island--theatres apparantly that couldn't keep pace with the times and didn't get enough support in these more rural areas of The Big Island of Hawaii to stay open. Many of these, unfortunately, have been replaced by characterless 'cinaplexes' in urban areas--much as has been the case all over the Islands and the Mainland. This photo of The Big Island Hawaii Kona Theatre shows this old Hawaii movie theatre as it sits as a forlorn monument to another era. (BIG ISLAND HAWAII PHOTO PICTURE ART GALLERY)
