Big Island Hawaii photo art - Aloha Theatre photo
by Jan Kaulins
THE BIG ISLAND HAWAII ALOHA THEATRE - photo picture art - The Big Island Hawaii photo picture art - This Big Island Hawaii photo is of the historic Aloha Theatre. The Aloha Theatre, overlooking the Kona Coast, is located in Kainaliu Big Island Hawaii. Construction of the Aloha Theatre began in 1929 and was finished in 1932 while Hawaii was still a Territory, and not yet a state. It began its life as a silent movie theatre and survived a fire in 1948 and the changeover to 'talkies' movies. It survives even today, but in a different incarnation--this time as a Performing Arts Center, featuring live music and dance as well as film. The Aloha Angel Cafe, which is open daily for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and also offers an extensive menu of delicious entrees, as well as homemade breads, mouthwatering pastries, and incredible desserts, is also an integral part of this most recent incarnation. In this picture photo of The Big Island Hawaii Aloha Theatre you can still see the original theatre building and the original Aloha Theatre marquee just above the logo for The Aloha Angel Cafe. This type of domed roof architecture is very characteristic of the style used in other theatres of this period on The Big Island of Hawaii.
