Old General Motors Bdlg. construction 1923 photo
by Jan Kaulins
OLD GENERAL MOTORS BUILDING 1923 picture photo print art for sale. This very historic color photo of The Old General Motors Building in Detroit under construction in 1923 was made from AN ORIGINAL BLACK AND WHITE PHOTO THAT HAS BEEN SEPIA TONED AND HAND-COLORED.
In 1920 Will Durant asked noted Detroit area architect Albert Kahn to design the largest office building in the nation--this is a historical photo of it as it neared completion in 1923. The GM Building has four 12 story wings so that each office receives exterior light. Though no longer used by GM since moving its World Headquarters to the Renaissance Center in downtown Detroit, it remains one of the National Historic Landmarks in the nation.

| The quality of the Jan Kaulins' photographic prints is much higher than we can show within limits of this web site. Slight tonal changes and blurring around the areas of strong contrast are a result of the JPEG compression process, and are not part of the high quality originals. |
