by Jan Kaulins
DIXIE BREWERY NEW ORLEANS Dixie Brewery Dixie Beer New Orleans photo art picture photography print for sale - TITLE; DIXIE BREWERY ROOFTOP, New Orleans.DIXIE BREWERY New Orleans photo art print picture for sale - Dixie Beer Brewery New Orleans art photography prints for sale. This iconic New Orleans color DIXIE BEER BREWERY fine -art artist signed and numbered Limited Edition New Orleans photo print for sale is made from AN ORIGINAL BLACK AND WHITE NEW ORLEANS PHOTO THAT HAS BEEN HAND-COLORED and printed by nationally recognized award winning artist/photographer Mr. Jan Kaulins. Hand-coloring black and white photos is a very old tradition in photography, and is rarely seen anymore. None of the work showcased here is done digitally. The artistic hand-coloring of the black and white New Orleans original photos visually ties in nicely with the New Orleans architectural images photo art theme. This is a wonderful color closeup architectural fine-art Dixie Brewery photo art print of the roof of the historic New Orleans Dixie Brewery showing the giant Dixie Beer sign on one of the towers, and two giant sized cans of Dixie Beer on the other portion of the roof. These images could be seen for many miles around and always reminded locals of one of their favorite local brews.
Dixie Brewing at The Dixie Brewery located at 2401 Tulane in New Orleans was founded and began production in 1907. New Orleans once was home to several major breweries (most notably, Falstaff). Several microbreweries and brewpubs exist in the city, and the popular Abita Brewing Company is located nearby. In 2005, the Dixie Brewery was severely damaged when Mid-City New Orleans flooded from the levee failure disaster during Hurricane Katrina. After the area was dewatered the brewery complex was looted with much of the equipment stolen. The brewery remains off line as of October 2008. The site of the brewery is currently slated to become part of the planned LSU/VA hospital complex. Planners of the complex have pledged not to demolish the building as it is architecturally and historically significant. It is unknown at this time whether the brewery may one day be rebuilt within this building or whether the building will be used for another purpose.

| The quality of the Jan Kaulins' photographic prints is much higher than we can show within limits of this web site. Slight tonal changes and blurring around the areas of strong contrast are a result of the JPEG compression process, and are not part of the high quality originals. |
