DETROIT Tiger Stadium & circus elephants photo
by Jan Kaulins
DETROIT TIGER STADIUM WITH ELEPHANTS photo art print picture for sale: This is a very unique historical photo from a bygone era of Detroit Tiger Stadium history as well as Ringling Barnum and Bailey Circus history and Michigan Central Depot history. In the foreground, parading down Michigan Avenue at the corner of Trumbull in front of Detroit Tiger Stadium, is a parade of large African elephants! For many years The Circus would often travel from city to city by train---and Detroit was no exception. After embarking from the train at historic Michigan Central Train Depot, the circus, with elephants at the head of the parade, would march from the Depot into downtown Detroit to do their show at either the Joe Louis Arena or Cobo Hall. In this photo you can read the words 'TIGER STADIUM" clearly on the corner of historic Detroit Tiger Stadium at the intersection of Michigan and Trumbull, as cars with amazed passersby look at this amazing sight!
All of the photos in the 'historical Detroit' series have been made from the original negatives or orginal photos and individually printed by Jan Kaulins.
