Just north of Hilo, on The Big Island of Hawaii, we see the splendor of 440' high Akaka Falls, the tallest single-tier waterfall in Hawaii. Akaka Falls is found on the Eastern side of The Big Island, which is the windward rainy side where the Trade Winds continuously bring in the warm tropical rains to the Rain Forest here. The area around Akaka Falls is surrounded by ginger, orchids, ferns and bamboo groves. This photo captures the water cascading over the spectacular falls surrounded by a colorful frame of natural fauna and flora in the Rain Forest of The Big Island of Hawaii.
