This Detroit photo of The Opening Day Inaugural Detroit Lions game inside Detroit Ford Field, in the new home of The Detroit Lions, was taken during the opening plays of the inaugural game in Detroit on Sept. 22, 2002. This historic Ford Field photo shows the entire playing field where the first regular season game at Detroit Ford Field, future site of 2006 Superbowl XL, featured The Detroit Lions vs. The Green Bay Packers. Opening Day signified a new era for the City of Detroit and for the Detoit Lions, as professional football was brought back to downtown Detroit. This photograph is a great wide angle picture of sold out Ford Field filled to capacity with cheering Detroit Lions fans in their new Detroit Lions football stadium--Ford Field. Ford Field in Detroit will soon be filled with thousands of screaming fans as in 2006 Detroit Ford Field will host The XL Superbowl. )
