New Orleans art photo - Cornstalk Fence Hotel

CORNSTALK FENCE HOTEL picture photo art print - New Orleans French Quarter Cornstalk Fence Hotel photo photograph picture art print: This color New Orleans photograph of the famous Cornstalk Fence Hotel in The French Quarter of New Orleans was made from an original black and white photograph that was hand colored by nationally recognized artist and photographer Jan Kaulins. The Cornstalk Fence is a New Orleans Vieux Carre landmark that helped make the old French Quarter famous. This New Orleans photograph shows the Cornstalk Fence Hotel with it's 165 year old 'cornstalk' cast iron fence, in the heart of the New Orleans French Quarter.
The story of this home talks of the original owner who brought his young bride to live in New Orleans, far from her native Iowa. To soften some of her loneliness for the waving fields of corn in Iowa, he had this beautiful iron replica of corn fields created so that she would always see something of her old home.
In the early 1800's the Cornstalk Fence House was the home of the first Chief Justice of the Louisiana Supreme Court and the author of the first history of Louisiana. Author Harriet Beecher Stowe also stayed at the New Orleans Constalk Fence House and was inspired to write Uncle Tom's Cabin from the sights at the nearby Slave Markets. This French Quarter picture photograph of The Cornstalk Fence Hotel shows a fine historic example of one of the City of New Orleans landmark buildings.
