LAFITTE'S BLACKSMITH SHOP New Orleans picture photo art - New Orleans French Quarter Lafitte's Blacksmith Shop and Bourbon St. Bar art photo picture for sale: - The New Orleans Photo Art Gallery photograph of Lafitte's Blacksmith Shop art print: This is a New Orleans photo of Jean Lafitte's Blacksmith Shop, founded in 1772 in The French Quarter of New Orleans. This New Orleans photo is of the intimate French Quarter Bourbon Street piano bar, Lafitte's Blacksmith Shop. It was photographed by nationally recognized artist and photographer Jan Kaulins. This New Orleans Lafitte's Blacksmith Shop color photo was made from an original black and white photograph that was hand colored.
In this New Orleans photo of Lafitte's Blacksmith Shop we see one of the historic few remaining original 'French Architecture' structures in the French Quarter of New Orleans. Two devastating fires, one in 1788 and the other in 1794, all but destroyed New Orleans. At the time New Orleans and Louisiana were under Spanish rule, so the City of New Orleans was rebuilt as a Spanish style city, replacing the crudely built French port and trading post buildings. Tradition has it that the Lafitte brothers operated this blacksmith shop as a legitimate appearing business, serving as a front for their dubious privateer enterprises.
