JOE LOUIS FIST SCULPTURE DETROIT photo picture art print - Joe Louis Fist Detroit picture photo art print for sale: This color photo of the Joe Louis Fist sculpture by artist Rober Graham was made from a BLACK AND WHITE PHOTO THAT WAS HAND-COLORED by artist/photographer Jan Kaulins. This tall bronze arm sculpture, suspended from pyramidal support beams that stand 24 feet tall, was made as a monument to Detroit native Heavyweight Champion of the World Boxer Joe Louis, known as 'The Brown Bomber'. This sculpture was unveiled in October 1987 and sits at the corner of Woodeward and Jefferson in Downtown Detroit. This unique sculpture was given as a gift to the city of Detroit. It was comissioned with a $350,000 grant from Sports Illustrated magazine. The artist cast the sculpture himself in his foundry in Venice, California, using the ancient lost-wax casting method. He cast the piece in eight section and later assembled and finished them himself. This is a dramatic photo of this Detroit landmark available only here at The Detroit Photo Gallery.
