OLD ABSINTHE HOUSE BAR New Orleans photo picture art print - Historic New Orleans landmark Old Absinthe House photo picture art print for sale. This color New Orleans Old Absinthe House picture photo was made from an original black and white photograph that has been hand colored by noted artist/photographer Jan Kaulins. In the heart of the French Quarter, at the corner of Bourbon St. and Bienville, sits the stuff of which legends are made--the Old Absinthe House. This historic structure was built in 1806 to house an importing firm from Barcelona. It is rumored that the Absinthe House was the meeting place of Pirate Jean Lafitte and Andrew Jackson as they planned their victory at the battle of New Orleans on the second floor. By 1815 the ground floor was converted into a saloon.

Today this historic French Quarter building houses Tony Moran's Restaurant and the front room is still the tavern know as Jean Lafitte's Old Absinthe House. In this hand-colored black and white artistic New Orleans Old Absinthe House picture photo we see a horse and carriage plodding slowly past the old brick building that has survived over two hundred years of American history.

The quality of the Jan Kaulins' photographic prints is much higher than we can show within limits of this web site. Slight tonal changes and blurring around the areas of strong contrast are a result of the JPEG compression process, and are not part of the high quality originals.
