BOOK TOWER Building Detroit picture photo art print. The Detroit Book Tower Building was a project begun in about 1916 and completed in 1930. The Book Tower is an excellent example of Italian Renaissance architecture. It was the tallest skyscraper building in Detroit until replaced by the taller Penobscot Building in 1929. This Limestone faced Detroit skyscraper building has been beautifully renovated and currently houses retail and office space. It is one of the more promiment and architecturally unique buildings in the skyline of downtown Detroit. This artistic Book Tower photo was left mostly black and white with the hand-coloring done just on the dramatic cloud filled sky. The Book Tower is a fine example of using historic vintage structures to serve contemporary functions.
